February 2017.

On the 11th of this month there will be a Penumbral Lunar Eclipse. It will start at 10:30pm, very faintly and will continue till 2:45am on the 11th, with maximun dimming, the middle of the eclipse, at 12:45am on the 11th. This is a Penumbral Eclipse, so the real shadow of the Earth will not fall upon the Moon, just the Penumbra, so it will not be as dramatic as a full Umbral Lunar Eclipse, but the Earth's shadow will get as close as it can to the Moon, so it is worth dressing up to go out and look for it and photograph it in phases.

The following Star Charts show what can be seen on 15.2.2017 at about 7:00pm from the Austerfield Location.
